The fast fingerpicking style, die Rob Lutes op zijn gitaar ten beste geeft met zijn muzikale maatje MacDonald begeleidend op dobro, is van een onovertroffen niveau. Zijn wat gedrongen stemgeluid is, soms door emotie gemarteld, wat hees en mat, waardoor zijn liederen doorvoeld en oprecht eigen klinken.
